The story is set on Manor Farm, where the overworked and mistreated animals revolt against their human farmer, Mr. Jones. Led by the pigs, they envision a society where all animals are equal and free from human tyranny. However, as the pigs—specifically the ruthless Napoleon—gain control, the original ideals of the rebellion are slowly twisted into a new form of dictatorship. The famous decree, "All animals are equal," eventually becomes the chillingly contradictory: "All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others."
