The billowing smoke in the distance warns Romi that there is a wildfire in the forest. As he cycles home to give his father some medicines, he finds that the fire is spreading in the direction of his village quicker than he thought. It is now a dangerous place full of falling trees, leaping flames and panicked animals, Together with Teju, the little boy he meets on the way, he must race towards the river to escape the fire and get the medicines to his father on time
