Mother Tongue Education-Ten Diverse Nations One common basis for Revival examines the success stories of ten diverse nations cutting across Europe and Asia, with different historical contexts, religious affiliations and different spoken languages. Every country as part of its revival journey either after breaking free from colonial shackles or after being war razed to the ground or driven to the point of extinction put in place an education system rooted in the Mother Tongue. Mother tongue akin to the Trunk of the Banyan tree draws on rooted foundational knowledge that enables branching out to expand the horizons of knowledge. From these branches, new roots reach down to enhance and enrich the foundational learning available in the Mother tongue.

Phanish also looks at India's journey with embracing Mother tongue education as espoused across different NEPs including NEP2020 across her diverse linguistic landscape and across different time periods and how the changing socio economic and political factors have influenced the extent of push from Governments and pull from parents and students in the area of Mother tongue education resulting in partial success and multiple missed opportunities. Juxtaposing against the learnings from these 10 countries and contextualising it for Indias unique native requirements, the author presents his understanding of the limiting factors and offers some suggestions on how we can overcome them and build a strong basis for our revival and continued growth in the new emerging world order.
